Better Boards
Community of Practice
The Better Boards Practices were developed by Col in partnership with Paul (donkey wheel) and Bill (Give Where You Live Foundation) as an experiment in responding to the ubiquitous phenomena of boards believing they were doing a great job but the net benefit to organisations being neutral at best.
The practices were piloted in a handful of organisations, but most thoroughly in the boards of which Col has been Chair for the last few years, The donkey wheel Foundation and The Give Where You Live Foundation. An early version of the thinking was written up for inclusion in difference: a foundation for difference making, published in June 2023.
In October 2022, Make it Better hosted a dinner after a number of people asked for more information about the Better Boards Practices, and then during 2023 an experimental Community of Practice was convened.
The program design for 2024 is based on feedback from people keen to participate and learnings from what we did in 2023.
